GeSHi News

Here's where you can find out all the latest news about GeSHi - new releases, bug fixes and general errata.

Syntax Highlighter plugin BETA'd with phpBB
14/08/2004
The phpBB plugin of GeSHi has just been released as a BETA. Using [syntax="language"] tags, syntax-highlighted code can now be posted. Expect to see this MOD go final within a few weeks.

More information is available at the official dev thread at phpBB
Wordpress hack of GeSHi released
11/08/2004
Amit Gupta has released a syntax highlighter plugin for WordPress called iG: Syntax Hiliter. Those of you using WordPress can now simply install this plugin to use GeSHi's highlighting power at your own site :)

Also, I see that gtk.php.net are using GeSHi for highilghting in their online manual. Awesome stuff!
Version 1.0.1 of GeSHi Released
05/08/2004
The new release of GeSHi - 1.0.1 - has just been released. Version 1.0.1 fixes a few minor bugs - a XHTML compliance quoting bug, a path bug for the language files and some small bugs in the outputted stylesheets. Also new functionality has been added - you can now specify whether you want keywords to be auto-caps'd/no-caps'd on the fly rather than have that choice made for you, and the documentation has been updated and new parts added. Get the new GeSHi from the downloads section.
GeSHi nominated for Award
02/08/2004
I'm proud to announce that phpclasses has nominated GeSHi for the "PHP Programming Innovation Award" - a prestigious honour for such a new product. Check it out at http://www.phpclasses.org/vote.html.
GeSHi version 1.0.1 Release Delayed
31/07/2004
Unfortunately a few minor bugs and prior commitments have prevented me from getting GeSHi 1.0.1 out on time. 1.0.1 will now be released this Tuesday instead. This will also allow me to test and add another two language files to the release also, taking the number of supported languages to 12.
GeSHi version 1.0.1 Due Shortly
29/07/2004
A few small bugs have been found in the 1.0.0 release of GeSHi, which are to be fixed in GeSHi 1.0.1, due to be released tomorrow or Saturday GMT+12. This update will ensure the XHTML compliance of GeSHi, as well as cut the outputted source by around 10% on average.

In other news, "Tux" has created two new language files for GeSHi - Pascal and ASM - that will be available with the new GeSHi release. A big thanks to Tux! Anyone else who would like to see a language supported or would like their name associated with this project can make a language file and send it to me at any time - consult the GeSHi documentation for information on contacting me.
GeSHi is now a Sourceforge Project
23/07/2004
GeSHi has been registered as an official Sourceforge project. Now all file downloads will be from the Sourceforge servers, and documentation will be available via the Sourceforge Docman service. This is a major plus for GeSHi, as GeSHi is in the middle of a publicity campaign.
The GeSHi website is being overhauled
21/07/2004
Over the next week or two, the GeSHi website will be getting overhauled to better advertised and promote GeSHi. Several new features, such as a forum, will be added during this time. Be sure to check back regularly for the latest on GeSHi.

16/07/2004
GeSHi version 1.0.0 has finally been released. With support for seven languages, GeSHi's release is a milestone in its development. You can get GeSHi by following the download link on the menu above.
